Plane Performance is an experimental theatre company formed in 1992. The company is concerned with the construction of contemporary theatre through the deconstruction of existing performance texts. More recently Plane Performance has also been involved in the production of other theatre events, showcases and festivals.

Plane Performance has been directed since the start by Neil Mackenzie, working in collaboration with a number of regular performers, most frequently Niki Woods, as well as other artistic associates. Based in Manchester, Plane Performance have performed widely in England as well as in Germany and Croatia. Neil Mackenzie is also the Artistic Director of the Axis Arts Centre in Crewe (previously the Alsager Arts Centre) and the Flare International Festival of New Theatre.

Since the start Plane Performance has included Neil Mackenzie, Warren Oldershaw, Fiona McEwan, Matt Brennan, Darren Gates, Birdy Newberry, Abi Fewtrell, Steve Hewitt, Stephanie Jukes, Adam Peacock, Claire Frost, Clare Turrall-Clarke, Tim Ingram, Craig Stevens, Graeme Rose, Niki Woods, Jenny Rutter, Anna Wilson, Russell Armstrong, Mike Farrimond, Luke Dickson, Kerry Williamson, Heather Burton, Noel Byrne, Kevin Egan, Anna Fenemore and Craig Pullen.

The company has collaborated with Steve Bull, John Forster, Simon Turner, Kevin Malone, Alex Bradley, Kristin Scheving, The Concert Party, Spencer Marsden, Mole Wetherell, Ben Faulks and Zoe Hammond.

Plane Performance have also received support from Arts Council England, Prema Arts Centre, Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education, TransEuropa2000, greenroom, Manchester Metropolitan University, Nuffield Theatre, Arnolfini, PARIP and Zion Arts Centre.
